The individuals or teams to be recognized must have been outstanding athletic performers, coaches or friends whose identification with the athletics program has been unique, and who exemplifies the ideals and standards of John Brown University.

• Athlete – An athlete is not eligible for nomination until five (5) years after completion of his/her intercollegiate eligibility and must have earned two letters in one intercollegiate sport or one letter in three or more intercollegiate sports.
• Coach – The coach to be recognized must have had a coaching tenure at John Brown University of a minimum of five (5) years.
• Meritorious Achievement – These men and women are honored either by virtue of their performance on athletic teams representing JBU, or by meritorious efforts in the years after graduation; and/or persons must have, over a period of years, exhibited a dedication and loyalty to the philosophy and ideals of John Brown University.
• Pioneer – These persons must have, over a period of years, been instrumental in the support, development and growth of the John Brown University athletics program.
• Team – This team must have been set apart by their achievement, leadership and representation of John Brown University.
