SETTING school records became a habit for Nicki. She ended her career as the program's record holder in six events. Nicki was a versatile swimmer as shown by her school records in sprint events and in an individual medley event. Her school records are in the 50, 100, 200 freestyle, the 100 and 200 butterfly, and the 200 individual medley.
WINNING was also commonplace for Nicki during her swim career at John Brown University. Numerous wins during the regular seasons including the conference meets were coupled with her All-America performances at the NAIA National Championships. Nicki was also a winner in the sense that she inspired teammates to accomplish at high levels of performance.
INDIVIDUAL medley races became one of Nicki's favorite events because she was able to use different strokes during the race. Her performance in the 200 individual medley set a program record, but she was also a strong competitor in the 400 individual medley where she earned three All-America honors.
MAXIMUM effort was something that could always be counted on from Nicki. She was an athlete who was a coach's dream. Nicki worked hard in practice and the meet results were a culmination of that hard work and dedication. Her efforts earned her All-America honorable mention accolades three times in addition to the above-mentioned honors.
