THE CENTER BACK. It is not every day that a defender earns All-America recognition, let alone twice. That was Renny Buchanan, who redefined what it meant to play center back for the Golden Eagles. Her pace, her ability to read the game, and her skill in connecting passes out of pressure made her a critical piece of JBU's defensive foundation across four successful seasons.

ROCK. In 73 career appearances, the Golden Eagles conceded just 54 goals in those matches, a remarkable 0.82 goals-against average that tells the story of what Renny brought to the back line every time she stepped on the field. In the final two seasons of her career, she logged more minutes than anyone else on the team (over 3,600 minutes) during the most successful stretch of JBU women's soccer history to that point. When the two-time NAIA All-American came off the field her absence was felt immediately, and there was a noticeable shift in the rhythm of play.

LEADER. The 2023 Sooner Athletic Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-Conference first team selection was a captain in every sense of the word, leading by example and serving as a vocal presence directing those around her. More than that, Renny had the discernment to call out pivotal moments on and off the field. When Renny spoke, people listened.

COMPETITOR. Renny hated to lose, and you always wanted her on your side. She went to battle every single day, pushing herself and those around her through a relentless pursuit of excellence. She made everyone around her better.
